Default Best Number of Player in a Group

Best Number of Player in a Group
  • 1
  • 2
  • 4
  • 6
  • 8
  • 10-16
  • 16+

(sadly I cann't find a way to do pollls here... so only can do a list)

What do you think is the best number for a group that would promote max fun. (for PvE or PvP, if differnt, state) Of couse, this is excluding the factor of difficulty and levels of the maps and such. (think of it as in future maps, what party cap do you like to see more of)

I like smaller group, for that encourage more bonding between the player, and faster action and specialization. So for me, group of 4 - 6 would be best.

2 is good for a close friend
4 is to small for my tastes
6 is just about right, it has enough people to keep chatty with
8 is a little hectic and it usually breaks down into subgroups of players combining skills.
10-16 Now most would say you're nuts to suggest this, but there's a special effect you start getting at 12+ players. That effect is the "I'm in an Army" effect.

-This causes the players in the group to lose some of the insecurities of being one of the people who could flatten the whole group. This causes usually cautious players to go out on a limb and try something new and risky.

-This also causes large amounts of adrenaline (out of game) pumping through the players, they get the feeling of being in a real "battle" with large amounts of action/chaos, this really gets the blood flowing and can have very positive effects. Every victory is amplified, every defeat, minimized.

Now that you bring up the subject, different group sizes sound kind of neat. I'd say it all depends on the map. Generally I think 8 is too much for any common map, but too little for a raid type setting.

Perhaps they should have maps designed specifically for 2 players only. =) Imagine a "swarm" mission in which you face hordes and hordes of low-level enemeis at a frantic pace.

Perhaps they should have maps designed for 16 characters as well. A "guild PvE map" where your guild members go and raid the place.

How about single-player, class specific maps?
